The challenge
Autoscaling had been configured once at launch and never revisited. Three environments ran production-sized instances around the clock, and the reporting database had become the most expensive component in the estate.
What we built
We instrumented every workload for two weeks before touching anything, then moved reporting to a read replica with scheduled scaling, consolidated non-production environments and introduced Terraform-managed budgets and tagging policy.
The outcome
Monthly spend fell 41% and stayed down through the next two quarters of growth. The finance team now receives a per-product cost breakdown they can reconcile.
